Long weekends are never long enough, and this one was capped by a windstorm ripping through at 3am last night and waking me up.

Very Important Long Weekend Plans, the recap.

1. Sleep.
DONE. I napped and it was lovely. Aside from aforementioned storm. Thank goodness for coffee.

2. Work on the 2000pc puzzle that is over half done and has been on our table for over a month.
DONE. I put in a few hours on Friday and Melissa put in several on Saturday, and then around 9pm I sat down with her and we tag-teamed it. I did lanterns/sky while she worked on a tree, and we met in the middle. Finished it around 1130pm. We're going to enjoy it on the table for a couple days before putting it away.

3. Pants.
ALAS this was not completed. I wanted to do a full bum adjustment the way Cashmerette does, but my phone was charging upstairs and I couldn't be assed to turn the laptop on. Instead I cleared off my sewing table. Now instead of books and a serger and several unfinished projects it has just my drafting supplies, a little bin for thread trimmings, and the container I put the waistcoat project in. The serger got moved to the sewing desk and the stuff that was on the desk got distributed.

Other things I did:

My sisters were in town so we had a dinner on Friday, that was nice <3 I ate a very mediocre fish and chips that I will not be reordering ever. The worst part was that the next day, every time I peed it just smelled like fish. YUCK. Thankfully only last 1 day.

Finished the hemd seams and flat felled them. It would be done if not for the fact that the sleeves are too short. I can either put a 3" cuff on them or lengthen them and put in the smocking I was really wanting to do. As discord reminded me, piecing is period (or am I going to despise a seam across my forearm, but I'm not undoing all my work to put a different sleeve on). More research required.

One of the things I brought upstairs was the fabric for a petticoat for an eventual short sack ensemble. I even started stitching it ("this is a waste of time! i don't have this planned to be worn any time soon!" Listen, self. Any time spent stitching is not wasted!) but between sewing a patch onto my denim jacket and the bandaid I have keeping a wart patch on my thumb, my fingers were pretty done. So I switched to knitting, where I got the second mitt through the gusset increases before bed. Those should be done PDQ.

I was reminded of a medieval-themed birthday party in approx. one month, where I had commented approx. one month ago that I had time to plan things to wear. And promptly forgot all about it. Well, I was looking at the dress I had sewn from a McCalls' pattern in about 2009 and how I should sell it, but it's the perfect medieval-fantasy base I need, so perhaps I won't just yet. I will need an overgown of some sort (don't think I have the pattern anymore) so there is time yet for that. Then I pulled out the pieces from my grody suitcases that I wanted to sell also (the pieces, not the suitcases), and while I thought I had more in there, all that there was the quasi-medieval gowns I made in 2006 (!), an incredibly small bumroll, a partlet, a strip of fabric for the Elizabethan gown I started in 2008, and... something else that escapes my memory. OH i think my old costume breeches Anyway, stuff for the near future to take care of.

Very tired today thanks to the windstorm, so tonight I shall take it easy and probably go to bed early. And visit the beans! I didn't do that this weekend (Friday I left time for my sisters to see them, Saturday my dad and brother were out all day, yesterday I was looking after Floofenschmirtz and napped), they must be so mobile now!

“Any time spent stitching is not wasted!”

“A stitch in time is worth 9” May refer to mending, but also seems to work for event sewing. Like stitching on deadline is kind of stress frazzling and sometimes I end up making more mistakes.

Hurrah for sisters breakfast!

Fishpee, nice.

Congratulations on the progress clearing up your workspace!

Lengthen the sleeve and do the smocking.
