Just like that a week is gone. I'm so tired today, I have zero concept of what day it is. Like I know it's a quiet day at work (because Wednesday is a work from home day so 75% of anyone who's in the rest of the week is at home instead) but I don't know what day it ACTUALLY is (is it Wednesday? Surely it must be Thursday?)

I'm so mad that I didn't check the hockey schedule until I'd already left the house. Game 1 of Round 2 is tonight and my team is playing! I can wear my jersey on game days! At least it's the start of a new series, I still have some opportunities.

Kittens are growing fat and bouncy. Last week they were hitting a sleepy period when I arrived, last night the closest they got was a brief lie down. They are starting to investigate big kid food and using a litter box, though I don't believe my dad has set one up for them (sigh). They are climbing on EVERYTHING and Sophie in particular was trying very hard to play and bite my hand. We're in a tricky stage of development lol.

On the weekend, Roomie M and I went down to the neighbouring city to be nerds. The guest she wanted to see most had cancelled on Monday, but we went anyway, if only just to get away for a couple days! We drove down Friday afternoon (it was the tail end of the bloody revolution for me, so while the drive was a little fraught, the con days themselves were fine!), had a back to back car performance of Hamilton, and took a lovely walk along the river since our hotel was RIGHT THERE. Saturday the con was PACKED; I heard it was sold out and that they had to shut down entry to the halls at various points due to capacity being reached. The main guests were Hayden Christensen, James McAvoy, Danny Trejo, Andy Serkis, David Harbor and a handful of other people (the only notable female guest who did not cancel was Emily Swallow, best known as the Armorer on The Mandalorian and a season in Supernatural; Christina Ricci and Gwendoline Christie cancelled a few weeks ago). We got to see James McAvoy's panel although it was standing room only, could not get seats for Andy Serkis immediately after so we did a quick tour of the other hall (which was PACKED), and returned for David Harbor (which we did manage to snag seats for). After that we were pretty much done so we got some food and headed out.

That night, we watched the end of the eastern game (go Leafs!) and the start of the hockey game (go Oilers!), took our walk through the second period, and then finished it up (we won woo!). Sunday was a repeat of Saturday, except that most of the main guests had left (no wonder Saturday was so busy) so the halls were a lot easier to walk through. We did a good tour of both, bought nothing, and drove home with another dual performance of Hamilton lol. M bought a selection of art pieces, and I bought an Emperor's New Groove wallet, which I made a series of delighted noises to find (it was expensive, for a wallet, but it had Kitten!Yzma on it!! if I hadn't bought it I would have lamented over it all weekend!) Generally speaking, it could have been a MUCH MORE expensive weekend. Also, James McAvoy has the sexiest accent ever and he was being an absolute slut with his shirt open halfway down his chest. I could have listened to him talk all day.

Just recovery the past couple days. I took Monday off to do it and I'm glad I did because the only thing I did besides lie around watching cartoons was go to my dental cleaning. I'm so tired today.

Upcoming is the yarn festival this weekend, of which I have PACKED my Saturday with volunteering and left no time for shopping. I don't know if I will go Sunday or not. I do want to shop the yarn, even though I do not need more yarn, nor can I really afford more yarn... I don't know ._. We'll see how I feel. Next weekend is a friend's bday party. The week after is MY BIRFDAY!!!

And the lack of wardrobe options is becoming more urgent with every day that passes. I really can't afford to go shopping right now, but I have tons of fabric, so what to do? Make stuff! Let's review:

Pants - the usual! I have plenty of options, I just need to do the damn thing. My biggest hurdle besides fit will be wearing pants that don't cling to every inch of my legs. RTW styles have never, not once, been fitted enough at the waist to be wide enough to go loosely over my body at the same time. (Maybe in the 90s, when mom-jeans were all the rage, but I still recall wearing a belt). I don't know how those are supposed to feel!

Shirts - this is where I will struggle a bit more. I have some older commercial patterns, mostly purchased with costume pieces in mind. But there are a few choices here. Off the top of my head I have 3 shirts by Cashmerette (a half-lined tank, raglan tee, and a proper shirt), two blouses and a t-shirt by Deer & Doe, a deep v-neck from New Look which should be easy(er) to adjust for boobs, a tunic-y tank by Simplicity, and a few vintage patterns. There's the shirt I want to take a pattern from. The upside to making my own is there would be a lot more natural fibers in use. And there's a few other patterns I'd like to get but they will likely need to wait until a little later in the season. This is crucial as I have 8 sweaters and three work-appropriate shirts.

I want to love skirts and dresses more, but they are tied up with some gender feels plus the desperate need to not have my thighs touching skin to skin. No chafing for me thanks! But I like it a lot more when it's more historical flavoured, with the layers that come with it. I don't know what the solution is here. More bike shorts/boxers/tap pants, I suppose. THEMS CAN BE FEMMES.

Speaking of boxers, I've also been getting ads for other RTW options and I like that those ones use female bodies that are not skinny-minis, they are people with thighs and asses and wiggly bits all over <3 I bought an RTW pair from American Eagle which I wasn't sure would work for me. I bought them in November and wore them for the first time in uh... mid-April. At first I wasn't sure how I liked them at all!! But by the end of the day, I did not hate them. My worst opinion is that they are actually REALLY REALLY high. Like well over my belly AND butt high. I actually needed to roll them down because where they were sitting was not a comfortable spot for me. Also the lined area was pathetically small. I found a couple of sewing patterns for this style that would be useful, though that will be a future thing for sure.

Shoes - Can't make these but I do need to look for some. I've been wearing increasingly ratty Keds mostly because they fit my lifts which I need for happy feet. Proper orthotic shoes are $$ but necessary. Payless left Canada years ago, so the only inexpensive options are Walmart and Ardene's. My grand head boss last week was like SANDAL WEATHER! and while yes, this is true, I work in a space with a looot of foot hazards. I've already had to deal with that once. No thank you for a repeat.
