totchipandaSince last time: Holiday shifts worked! One was interrupted upon arrival to find the mall in lockdown. Apaprently, a fight broke out and one of the participants had a gun, so they locked down and there was plenty of emergency response. We feel that a lot of people left or didn't come in after hearing about it, so both days were deaaaad. I got much knitting done. And reading.
But nothing at home. Too tired! One bucket of dishes washed last Tuesday, but also no new dishes created besides two coffee mugs, so it's net zero. I chose rest and sewing over cleaning with a whopping 6 hours to myself all weekend. (will future me regret this? maybe. but not yet!) And as everyone has been reminding me, I was sick.
Other things I did this past week:
Sewed on the petticoat, with the antique treadle! I thought the width of the foot was 1/4", but it's slightly under, which is perfect for French seams. I don't have the front cover plate so sometimes my pins dip into the shuttle space. It hasn't been an issue yet but it definitely could. I also know that missing plate doesn't have seam line markings, which will get trickier if I use it more. Also the treadle belt isn't as snug as it should be, I can hear it slipping and it doesn't drive the machine as fast. But I got the petticoat together and the placket installed (no idea why the directions tell you to install AFTER it's been made into a skirt. Why not install it when the place where it goes is flat? I installed it flat.)
Read a book! I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy (aka Sam from tween Nickelodeon shows) which was fascinating and horrifying.
Knitted! Got 12 garter ribs into my shawl, 7 more to go, then 20 rows of lace and a bind off.
Shopped! I went to the grocery store and got a bunch of snacks, a garbage can, and a squishmallow. Yay me.
