Dec. 11th, 2023 09:51 amWeekend was not as relaxing as it could have been. Woke up at 1:45am on Saturday to murder in my shorts as my disc and back up pad were experiencing a catastrophic failure. Revisited the potty at 4, napped, potty at 7-ish, napped, finally got up at 10:30. Napped again around 3pm before getting up and heading out to the holiday job. More murder. Lots and lots and lots of murder. F'n over this shit. (bonus murder for all the clots that came out into the next day too)
Saturday evening, my friend's husband messaged our group chat with M to say that their old lady dog, who turned 14 in September and has had a host of health concerns this past year, was refusing her medications and would not eat anything other than a tablespoon of sour cream. Sunday morning, they said it was time, she was now refusing even sour cream. So M took off work early and we drove out to see them and say our goodbyes. She was only laying on a blanket, trembling and breathing hard, and could not muster more energy than to give all these people sitting with her and touching her a side eye (something she was very, very good at). Her breath was awful and the tip of her tongue had turned black. They made the right decision, I think, in not letting her suffer any longer than necessary even if finding a vet who would do the procedure on a Sunday was a process. It's going to be so strange to see them now with only two doggos in the house.
I finally finished knitting the last garter band on my shawl, and out of my 80g ball of yarn, 65g went into the band, which leaves me 15g (approx 70 yards) to go into 20 rows of lace AND the bind off. AHAHAHAHA not happening. I figure I can get a couple rows of lace on and that's just going to have to be enough. Alternatively, I could see if the remaining white-based speckled yarn from my last project is a close enough match to finish it off, especially in lace it would be less noticeable. Must investigate.
Put the final seams into the petticoat and the waistband. Bra sewing is on hold while I figure out the sizing I require. I have three shifts this week at the holiday job which is going to cut into my home time so it's gonna be a few days before I can really get back to it. This is ok bc there is only 2 weeks left!

Date: 2023-12-12 03:31 pm (UTC)That's actually a really good idea! The leftovers I have would be OK in a pinch, but I really don't have enough (miniscule balls left lol) so now I'm off to hunt for a contrast. Maybe. I still might do fewer lace rows lol.
