On the first day I had a video call that started at 11 AM UK time, which was 4 am my time, so I woke up at 3 to get ready. It was lovely. Napped. Went to walmart and got groceries to get me through the week and a bit, and elastic and snaps to finally finish the petticoat. Spent 2 hours trapped under Sophie. Napped. Finished the petticoat. Went to bed.

The rest of the week was a lather-rinse-repeat! Spent hours trapped under one or the other or both kittens -- who, btw, are also little criminals -- while knitting away on socks or a baby blanket. Drank coffee. Ate when I felt like it. Napped. Went out with M a couple times. Got furious at my provincial government and sulked about that. ("Hoping for rain or snow" is not a valid or effective wildfire strategy! JFC!) Got my kitchen tap fixed. Cut out a singular leg of Closet Core's Mitchell trousers to try fitting (sewed a straight size 20 with no changes and I like it! The only change I will make is to size down to 18 lol) Finished three out of 4 socks. Snuggled and kissed and played with the kittens LOTS. Finally brought in the base to the machine that I bought at the end of December and set it up. I even managed a little writing.

All week the weather was mild to actually warm (46F on one day! 10C!) and brilliantly sunny. On Saturday I had to go the mall 2 train stops down from mine, and I planned to walk home. It was cooling off by then, which was fine, but it was also heckin windy which was NOT fine. My feet and my core were warm, and all the rest of me was cold. Yesterday it started snowing, and it hadn't stopped at noon today, plus the temp dropped severely (0F/-18C). We need it so bad, it is only February and we already have 2 out of control wildfires happening, but oof it's a lot to deal with! I might actually need to move my car ahead of residential snow clearing, which has yet to happen this season.

This particular past week has, historically, been the worst for me mood-wise. I usually spend it struggling so hard against the urge to just hibernate, and while I didn't sleep all that much, overall, the cycle of "sleep when I want to, eat when I want to, put out as much energy as I want to" definitely made a difference. When I did the trouser leg, I had to flip the table and replace the missing felt pads on its feet, which I could not have managed at the start of the week. I got a bunch of dishes done ahead of the tap being fixed, and made a loaf of GF bread which was not pretty but SO yummy. It was nice to just kind of... vibe.

Now with my weekly WIP challenge over and my second pair of socks almost finished, I can decide what knitting projects I want to work on next. And being back at work, fic writing can happen more consistently without the help of the kittens. It wasn't long enough, but when is it ever?

Glad you had a chance to recharge. Snow and fire at the same time... if that's not a sign...
