Apr. 4th, 2024 08:19 amOnce I got home on Tuesday I had a doze, which at least reset my brain a little, and got into dinner-making. I made Blackened Shrimp Tacos but with chicken. Except for cayenne pepper, I had all of the ingredients! I made my own coleslaw bc I have a small head of cabbage and some carrots on hand and subbed in some sour cream in the dressing, plus lemon juice for the acids. And chicken, obviously lol. It was still partially frozen which made chopping it up real small easy. They were DELICIOUS and so were the leftovers.
Then I did the dishes (who am i?!) and sat down to finish stitching eyelets in the first back panel. My doze did not affect my ability to go to bed/sleep and I had a better sleep that night.
Yesterday I was not busy at work and after some thinking, I decided that IT WAS TIME and I was GOING TO SEW A BAG. I bought the pattern last weekend after trying to guess the dimensions from a making video, even ripped a bunch of panels for the lining (imo the pattern was too regular to be exterior). It's been sitting and waiting ever since, but no more! I dug around a bit trying to choose an exterior fabric and ended with a dark grey not-fully-cotton-if-any I found in one bin. It ripped across the grain no problem but could not be budged length-wise. Regular non-woven fusible applied to the cotton pieces (but vintage, I bought it at the thrift store).
FIIIIIIIINE I GUESS I'LL MAKE DINNER FIRST. Rice pasta with fried mushrooms and a sprinkle of parm.
Bag is now fully sewn on the exterior. I chose to use one of the print panels for the front accent piece. The pattern calls for fusible fleece to stabilize the exterior. I don't have any, but I do have some fleece pieces in my stash, I could flat line... (spoilers, this did not work well. Will either need to revise or never do it again!) I said I would work until I finished "this episode" of my animals show which took me to about 9:30. I was at a point where I would like to add D-rings, but I don't have the right size.
Tonight I think I will finish up the lining and then go back to eyelets. I will need to get cat food VERY soon so whether I do that tonight or tomorrow, I will see about getting D-rings at the same time. Or maybe I'll order some from Amazon for tomorrow. I'll decide once I have a bit more coffee.
This weekend is a fibre festival and market in a nearby city, which also happens to be where my gramma is. I want to visit her anyway, and if I happen to be in the area... I can't buy anything! Gas has gotten more expensive this week with the reinstatement of a fuel tax, I have the first of my dental appointments on Monday, and I need to get the photo op for Expo at the end of the month. This is the month where my end-of-month responsibilities will be on the next payday, which is April 19th aka almost 2 full weeks before the end of the month which is so IRRITATING. Next month is 3 pays, which mostly just changes how I organize payments, but at least it will feel like less pressure.
