totchipandaTried the skirt on last night after attaching all of the snaps, and it is so cute. It was late, after a take-out meal of taters and fried chicken and a day after eating non-GF pizza (they looked for me though, which was nice) and I didn't put the corset on so it was TIGHT. I think I'll pin the hem up 3" for one last try on before committing, and will cut the facing too. Or I might just use the 3" as the hem, as that's well-allowed for in period manuals.
For photos... I don't quite know what to do yet. There are many parks near me and it would be easy enough to suit up and pop into one with the ring light aka tripod & clicker. But the provincial legislature building is gorgeous and was opened in 1912 and would make a nice backdrop too. I would feel silly being alone there, but I would hardly be the first person taking their own photos lol.
I was hoping to have time to make an Elsie blouse but I'm not sure that I will unless I get REAL ambitious over the next couple days. It's possible but I don't know if I have the energy. If not, I have the black poplin Patina blouse, which I also put on in my skirt try on and it was fine. It's just a lot of dark colours all together if I go that route. Goth, but make it mid-wwi. I need a hat and a black veil. Maybe a witch hat too.
The studio's open hours come at a cost of $20, which might be worth it for access to their space, large tables and pressing items. I could get a LOT of sewing done in 4 hours with minimal distractions and no helpers. Not committed yet, but considering it.
Tuesday was a physically busy day at work, there was a meeting of about 40 people and they spent a lot of time standing around a smaller social area at work talking, which raised the decibels quite a bit. I quickly got overwhelmed and am still in recovery mode from that. Fingers crossed that by the weekend, I am less BEARS!!! BEARS!!!!! It's not a good mode to be in, how the fuck was I managing this unmedicated for so many years???
