Sep. 8th, 2025 07:54 amNot been doing a whole lot of anything interesting. On Friday I went to Winners to try and find something Melissa has been looking for, but they did not have it and I walked out with some cat toys and scratchers, and one of those book nook kits. The toys were a big hit, I could only see Sophie playing in the entryway, but she knocked those little fish around for 30 minutes.
Saturday morning I rolled out to do my shopping so that I could be home before the ultra-local event started and not need to find parking again. I finished the skirt completely, pinning, pressing and stitching the hem, stitching on 2 matching buttons on the pocket flaps, and a hook and bar. I'll wear it this week so I can get a photo. Just kinda flapped about the house for a bit, as I was meeting M downtown for a theatre showing of Hamilton, which we enjoyed. The sound should have been like doubled though, so we could turn it into a sing-along lol. After, we went to the used bookstore just down the street (no goodies this visit), and then back to M's place so we could... (dramatic pause) BUY TICKETS. I was really just there for moral support lol. I immediately transferred my cost over bc I had it planned for already, so that's one cost down. Then we were scoping out various seats within that theatre since we plan to see it again, her and I, and then checked out other theatres of different shows. Hot damn why are they all so gorgeous!! Why do I stay in a province that wouldn't know what art was even if it slapped them in the face!
Anyway... got home MUCH later than intended, but hilariously I saw some of the same people on the train that I had seen in the afternoon. It was actually a rather full car, which made me feel a little safer. Watched an ep of drag race and crashed into bed. Sunday I was lazing around more, bc the day before the kittens had just wanted to be ON me and tried to do so while I had room around me on the couch for precisely one. We had planned to go see our friends in nearby city, but they weren't feeling well so we cancelled. Unknown date of rescheduling. I just laid in bed all day, had a migraine aura around 330 so I took some drugs and a nap. Of course that meant that I couldn't sleep until like... 1 am, and I woke up in the middle of the night too.
Still have not finished my swatch for the sweater which absolutely will not be finished in the three months at this rate. Yarnspirations (Bernat/Patons/Red Heart) put out a collection of 20s inspired projects, one of which is quite pretty and uses a yarn I happen to have two of (deep stash, purchased no later than 2016), so I fished that out of a bin and swatched (much easier, 13 singles by 14 rows). I did it mostly because i KNOW my crochet gauge tends to be VERY tight, which is fine for the toys I usually make but would be super annoying to make a whole damn garment and find out it's too small. I have to size down 2 sizes for knitting, but UP 2 for crochet, go figure.
Fibre fest this weekend, and my local friend is up for going <3 We haven't been to this one since 2018 (I think), I'm really excited. We had such fun on that trip. I'm not REALLY shopping for anything, maybe a couple of projects, especially because every thought right now is "do I want this, or do I want to go to New York?". I have a few days to sort it out. Time with my friend squishing yarn is MUCH more important.
