Short version: it went well, I am now the proud owner of an IUD and 500 mg of iron.
Woke up at 230. Aunt picked me up at 445, so I was at the hospital at 5am. The register desk didn't open until 5:30, and the day surgery ward didn't open until 6 am lol. I was a whole lotta EARLY. Once inside, I was given a gown and directed to remove all of my clothing. All of it. I waited a bit, a nurse took my details, they said "we'll get you up any time now." Still took some time, I went up, waited some more, another nurse checked some details, a doctor came to put in my IV (ouch), more waiting, another nurse came to take MORE details and finally I was wheeled back. The OR was cold, but they put a warmed blanket on me and started adding relaxants to my IV and then I was out. Next thing I know, I'm in a room with some nurses.
The call I'd had with the scheduler on Thursday, she suggested I'd be out by 930. My aunt asked if she should wait? I said nah, that's so stupid early, I'll let you know when I'm done. Just as well because I wasn't back in my bay until nearly 11. I had a polyp removed (I think thats what they said!) and then my iron levels are low so she ordered 500mg of iron to be infused, which takes 5 hours and requires twice hourly vitals checks. I dozed for the first hour, read a book while my phone charged, then played silly phone games. Aunt came back at last and I was home shortly after 5pm. Sheesh!
Saturday I was absolutely flattened by a migraine. I was roasting then I was freezing, then roasting while freezing, nauseous, throbbing pain, could barely open my eyes longer than it took to get to the bathroom and back and closed them in between.
Yesterday I woke up with some lingering pain, but I felt a whole lot better and managed to spend the day upright on the couch. I knitted a bit and finished up my April journal pages, and a lot more silly games while the cats napped on me.
My GP booked an in-person meeting with me today, probably to talk about my low iron levels lmao. This should be fun. Whatever, I get to leave early! Also, our annual safety manual project is done so it's back to resume-reviewing and cover-letter writing so I can get outta here permanently. And maybe some fic-writing.

Date: 2026-04-13 04:11 pm (UTC)I've always been low on iron, and was really lax about my supplement through the winter haha. But you're right! I've always been heavy even while on oral hormones, who woulda thunk!
