Jun. 17th, 2018 11:12 amI made a grave (?) error in cutting out the redingote. I forgot to make a pattern for the lapel facing, the part that everybody sees. (Insert image of The Scream here)
I trawled fashion plate images of redingotes for two reasons. One was to get ideas for headwear (almost exclusively hats, but a few fluffy caps, and since i am not bringing any true hats with me to coco, fluffy cap it is!), the other to see what my options might be. So:
A: contrast lapel facing. Matched cuffs. Downside: most had contrast collars too, and no capes
B: cut the lapel off the bodice and replace it with a contrast piece underneath so that the fashion fsbric is on top.
C: do some weird funky thing by moving tje linen part of the lapel underneath (still need to cover it. Can cover the join with some scraps)
D: piece the shit out of my scraps (theres very little left)
E: cut 10" off each skirt panel and piece that for facings. I guess itd be more like 9.5", to account for needing to hem.
