Winter and sewing
Feb. 3rd, 2018 07:10 pmIt snowed a bunch more yesterday, making roads super slippery and complete shit. My apartment building also plowed the parking lot, but it was hard to tell by the time I got home. Thankfully my neighbours were back so I could gauge my parking spot off of theirs.
It snowed at least past 6am this morning, but was done by 10. So I got my shit together and braved the outside to go to M's studio for a sewing/fitting date! We were going to do her jacket and mine, but she realized she needed her stays to be done first, and I hadn't touched my jacket in over a year. I got the strap partially on and the bottom of the sleeve in, but in the end it was all too tight/small. I'd even let the seam of the sleeve out as much as I could. The strap was too short, and HELLA wide. The neckline gap was a few inches at most. So I cut it wider, M pinned in a new strap and marked the seams, and then I took the sleeve out to remake it. I'm going to redraft my pattern and make a new muslin, and hopefully get that finished up soon. It's been being worked on for almost 4 full years. The good news is that the body is perfect (maybe I will need to adjust the back waist a bit) and SO cute. And M was well on her way to having the stays finished when I left.
I want to get my stays finished up. I think I will wear them about tomorrow to see where I need to adjust them. For the most part I think I need a bit more boning. I only really remember feeling like my pocket was dragging down my waist cuz there wasn't enough to support it.
