Last week was a smidge of a write-off. I came home Tuesday feeling crampy and icky in my tummy, so I pretty much spent the whole night lying down. I finished the ribbing on a sweater on Wednesday. On Thursday I traced off a new version of Wearing History's late teens Elsie blouse since I had apparently cut the first version out too small. I lengthened it an inch and sewed a new mock-up, which was MUCH better. On Friday I bound off the sweater.

Saturday I was flat felling seams on an old shift until my roommate and I went to go visit our former roommate and her fiance. The weather was finally nice enough to sit outside, and we have all had our first vaccines. It was SO NICE to see them for more than 10 minutes.

Sunday I finished the flat-felling and rehemmed the shift, so it's officially complete. I found a chalk marking on it that let me know what I had used to measure it out, so I'm pretty sure it was the first shift I ever made, back in 2010/2011. It was machine stitched and the hem was serged with the seams open before being stitched down, but none of the other seams were finished in any way. It had definitely been washed at one point, judging from the fraying (honestly not that bad) and I'm pretty sure I had left the neck facing free and had stitched it down more recently. There were a few spots where I couldn't properly fell the seams, but I did the best I could and now it's done. Woop woop!

In non-sewing news, our stove had A Moment yesterday when the other roomie was about to start making dinner. It apparently sparked and then gave an error code that couldn't be cleared, so I turned the breaker off. He said he'd seen sparks from behind the panel, so it could be a fuse, but they are in behind and it will need to be pulled out. It was late-ish and we will definitely need to clean behind the stove when we pull it out, so we're gonna do that today. My boss reminded me that it could also be the element that popped, which would definitely account for the electrical smell and error code.

And since he was literally about to start dinner, we at least had a BBQ to keep cooking on!

I'm also reasonably sure my garden is a no-go. I totally forgot to even look at it this weekend. My friend showed us her seedlings and they are AMAZINGLY healthy. Mine were not even close to the same size or stage of growth. I'm not too sad about it if that's the case? It was my first year attempting, and I have already learned lots! This is one thing I wish I had my grampa around to ask questions.
