We're number 2! (wait...)
Dec. 29th, 2021 12:35 pmYesterday we were the second-coldest place on the planet. I am very grateful that I did not have to go outside all weekend, and that my new coat is very toasty indeed as today it was a whole ten degrees warmer (weekend was lows of -45, and highs of -41; today it was -28C/-19F when i left, and windchills of -35C/-28F) but still freakin' cold.
On Christmas Eve/Day I was looking after my friend's very floofy cat! It was so nice to see him, even though he is very suspicious of me. He did not hiss at me though, probably because I no longer smell so strongly of Guido. But to add a layer of fun, my car wouldn't start. The battery is original to when I bought it 7 years ago, and it just didn't have enough juice to combat the deep freeze lol. Jeremy let me borrow his vehicle though to go feed kitty.
After I got back, we watched Home Alone and then opened presents! We all got LEGO, so we spent a few hours after building it together lol. I also got a heat-responsive baby Yoda mug, a booksleeve with llamas on it, and a Six of Crows themed candle :D Jeremy made lemon chicken and mashed potatoes for dinner, and then they played Switch games while I finished knitting a shawl.
On Sunday, my sisters came by for an hour and a half, and we just got to shoot the shit for a time. They brought me gifts of coffee, coffee, more coffee, and some candles lol. It was so nice to see them. My one sister is now 5 full months out from leaving her abusive husband and she is looking and sounding so much more like herself.
I had Monday and Tuesday off as well because the two holiday days fell on a weekend, so I napped and knit and just chilled. It was lovely! I started a new shawl (because I could) and then finished up the fingers on a pair of mitts for Melissa, and started on the flap tops while watching the entirety of Canada's Drag Race season 2. All in all a lovely relaxing weekend.
Today I have two packages waiting for me at home. My new collection of hair products (including a deep conditioner and styling brush) and my new laptop!!! Eeee!
