What a terrible word haha.
I'm definitely naming this series "5 years of UFOs" because this is another thing I'd planned ages ago and am only just getting around to finishing. Or starting, in some cases.
The "winner" of my informal poll was red, followed very closely by green. Red had been my first choice all along, but IIRC I had started the muff before the dress, and the dress had to be made first. Once that was done (really, the sleeves have been in for like a year, there was really no reason not to go ahead), then the rest could be allocated to other projects. But in typical me fashion, what if I ruin it completely forever?! It's not like cherry red silk just grows on trees around here!
Self, it's ok. Use the good stuff. Maybe there won't be cherry red silk in your future again, but you have it now. It's ok. (pets self soothingly) (erm in a mental way. Not that that's much better) (look just picture my anxiety like a fuzzy creature and it needs to be petted)
Unfortunately, the silk was also a victim of the Great Flood of 2020. I had purchased it in two pieces. Some of it was fine, and some of it was absolutely soaked through with gross ceiling water. (They must have been in different places in the room, probably because I'd already cut and assembled the bodice) I washed it once I was at the house, but now one piece is differently textured from the other. The non-washed piece was about 28" long by the full width, while the washed piece still has over a yard of uncut length with some longer, narrower pieces on one end. Rather than cut into the full yard, I used the unwashed piece.
It needed a serious ironing... I think it's been folded up for 3+ years. Then it was stitching time! I put on The Witcher: Blood Origin since I was home alone and got through the one side, with enough time before I went to pick up Roomie M to pin the short edges together. Tonight I shall stitch that, and then start the other side.
IN other news, I am also home alone tomorrow night, as the roomies are going to a hockey game, so I will have lots of time to do up my hair and get photos of the cap. I just need to sort out a photo backdrop in my house.
