Starring in their debut opera roles...
Jan. 23rd, 2024 07:55 am...Sophie and Calcifer!
Y'all, they have not been in the car since September. They have not been outside since September and though it was a balmy -11C (12F) instead of -40, they were NOT HAPPY TYVM. They are getting spayed today! No more worrying about if they're going to go into heat, or escape out a door in a chance moment and find a nice boycat to make cute little babies with. The pick up and drop off periods align perfectly with my work schedule, so I drove to work today.
Yesterday I got off the train and went straight to my car. I unearthed it from the 4-5" of snow and then started kicking loose snow out of the path of my tires in hopes it would be less of an issue. As I was doing so, a woman pulled up next to me and asked if I was stuck. Don't know yet! Hope not! First attempt was no good, so I backed up a couple inches and tried again. She struggled to get traction, but we made it!
I went to Walmart to get a cat carrier (actually a dog carrier but a small carrier is a small carrier) and a few groceries in prep for today/tomorrow. I did not want to be doing all of the digging and potentially getting stuck at 630am. All good, the roads weren't great but being well-travelled they didn't pose a huge issue (i travelled slow and gave myself lots of braking distance). When I got back, the same woman was just getting into her vehicle in front of my building, so she left and I took her spot. Normally I don't like to park RIGHT in front because I don't drive all that much, but it was important for the kitties.
And it was fine this morning. Got out no problems, kittens sang me the tragic songs of their people, I got to work right on time. Once I leave I will go straight to the clinic even if I have to wait for a bit, and pick them up.
New WIP project started, some crocheted scarves. I had to re-learn the opening chain, which is a little trickier than a regular start, and then got about halfway back along the length (because of course this is made the long way 'round) with the textured stitch. Should be flyin' tonight and tomorrow now that the start is done.
