this just in: it's hot.
Jul. 9th, 2024 09:06 amHigh of 91 expected today (33 for my fellow canucks/brits), and BLEEEEGH.
Yesterday was not too bad, actually. There was a breeze blowing about when I left work at 430, so I opened the windows wide (despite the south one being in full sun yet) and let the wind do its thing. At one point, the south room was actually cooler than the north one. I attempted to cut out the stays from some muslin, but Calcifer was in a helping mood and mostly I just got scratched for my trouble. Plus, it was hot! Declared it to be time for video games and reading and perhaps some hand-sewing. (Ended up being only video games but hey, the plan was there.)
I pulled up my big girl pants and logged into my home insurance site to see what was what. I was handed a bit of a boon - the first payment for the renewal doesn't come out until NEXT month. PHHHEEEWWWWWWW. Yes, it's gone up about $7, and I still need to call them to update my addresses for both mailing and coverage, but thank FUCK I don't have to worry about the NSF fees I was about to be charged.
Thanks to that, I now have a tiiiiiny bit of money for groceries to at least get me through the week. I need rice and beans and eggs and cheese and that will keep me going for awhile.
After yesterday, the plan is definitely "survival mode". Keep hydrated and fed, keep physical activity to a minimum. Upcoming weekend is planned for some fun activities (Mama P is coming to town and I don't know yet if I need to pick her up from the airport but am keeping my day largely free in case, knitting store two towns over is having an anniversary celebration) and I really ought to pop out to see my gramma. Groceries are a must!! I really need cat litter, and I'll likely go to the place that shares a parking lot with Costco and (gasp) visit Costco.
ALSO, today I am wearing the blue Pietra pants that I really don't like but it is HOOOOOOOT. Good information here about what I need to change either on these or for another pair.
