Sep. 14th, 2026 10:12 amNew laptop arrived on Friday, hooray! It took about an hour of updates to start being able to use it. First things first: Firefox, Adobe Reader, Discord, and VLC. Quite happily, I can now watch the slime I've had for a year. I printed a bodice pattern and I didn't have to fight forever to get it to load up. Joy!
Busy weekend. Saturday was the yarn show my friend and I enjoy the most. She buys all of her winter projects there, I mostly go for the vibes. Best Buy is still holding onto the laptop charge even though they've already definitely taken it out (I asked, they will release it shortly but couldn't give me an exact date), so that left me with only a handful of dollars in my account. I took the $100 I'd saved from one of the shows and spent most of it. I wasn't looking for anything except a match to a project that's been on hold (because I ran out of yarn, and the dyer has shut down their studio), but I also got a sock set, a mystery mini skein that I LOVE and two matching minis to go with it. It was a lovely day!
Yesterday I was at my aunt's house for a fire and BBQ. I almost turned around and went home because my mom's car was out front, but my aunt generally doesn't invite me if she'll be there too, so I sucked it up and went in. Turns out, she is in Rome and that means they left the car there and my aunt drove them to the airport. My other aunt had a lot of political flags for us to burn, and my dad had 10 or 15 years of receipts saved up to burn too. It took some patience to get all the receipts done but we did it. The last flag to go on was a US 2024 one and my aunt took video of it going up in flames for the auction house where she got them from.
It was windy and the best place for me to sit was blasted with smoke and ash every time it swirled around. I got home and immediately took a shower, and once I was out I realized that I'd had too much sun too. I didn't feel great. Fortunately had nothing else going on that night so I lumped on the couch until bedtime and then lumped there too.
Forgot to set my alarm again after turning it off on Friday (because I was awake 3-6 and I wanted a chance at uninterrupted sleep, so I set a different alarm and a timer), but I woke up in time to get up. Still left later than I wanted, and traffic was unusually heavy. I was a couple minutes late. Lunch today is PB&J, and tonight I will make a stir fry or sommat.
