On Sunday, the Blue Man Group was in town :3 I've never claimed to be OMG THE BIGGEST FAN, but the chance to see them was too good to pass up, and I'm glad I went. It was SO AWESOME :D If you've seen "The Complex Rock Tour" DVD, then you already have a good idea what this show was like ;)

About 20 minutes before the show started, there was a scrolling text that began with "Your attention please Please yell if you are paying attention" and went on to determine if there were any megastars in the audience, as well as advertise their site and a contest currently running on it. One of the texts was "if you think drinking a bottle of Jack Daniels and then climbing a palm tree is a good idea Congratulations.... You're Keith Richards" and if you DIDN'T think it was a good idea, then congratulations... you're NOT Keith Richards XD That sort of thing. Then at 7:30, they did a rock concert movement, I forget what number, which was "bringing out an opening act to warm up the audience" and a dude named Mike Relm came out. He had one of those record-scratching machines and was overall rather entertaining. Blue Man finally started around 8.

This tour is called "How to be a Megastar 2.1". They have a new "How to be a Megastar" tape that they buy at the beginning of the show, "using" a credit card number from an audience member. It covers most of the same rock concert movements from the Complex Rock Tour, and some new ones like "tribute to Banjo the Clown", which is when you hold up your pinky and index fingers and wave your hand in the air like everyone does at rock concerts these days ;) That was accompanied by a clip of Banjo the Clown, who has hair that looks like the fingers. Most of the songs were the same too, and the vocalists were not the same from the Complex DVD (nor was the band the same, I don't think) but overall, it was so great :D No DVD can prepare you for the sound of that suspended drum that they whack with a rubber mallet, which just vibrates through your chest and assaults your ears. The audience participation moments were fun; at one point one of them walked literally 5 people away from where I was sitting; they're really blue! It looks like a lighter shade of blue on TV, but it's really dark. They gave two people souvenirs, one by spitting paintballs onto a blue shirt they made him wear, and another by the same, only with one drop of paint, and then by catching at least a dozen marshmallows in his mouth as tossed by another from the other side of the stage, and then making a little mashed-up marshmallow tower onto a cap they stuck on her head XD

It was a really awesome show and I'd go see it again in a heartbeat if I could :D

I still wish I hadn't have been stuck training the night they were here. Oh well, there's always next time!

I remember when we watched that dvd up at Cheryl and Gavin's.

I think next time they come to Alberta, I should go up to Edmonton and see it with you. I haven't seen you since Ota, and it makes me sad =(

I still think you should have called in dead ;) I really hope there is a next time, I'd love to see it with you <3<3<3<3

Gosh, I remember that too. That was fun.. I've watched it a few times since, it's not quite the same. Though 5.1 sound helps a lot XD

I know! I ought to plan a weekend and come visit you. Or make it another week and come visit EVERYONE...that would be fun :3

I totally should have. XD
There has to be a next time! Or else *shakes fists*

You totally should come visit again! I'm actually hoping that Catt decided to have her birthday party in Edmonton again, I'll have a good excuse to go up there, I still haven't seen your new house yet!

lol, Heather would be so appalled!! She's the best boss I could ask for though.

For some reason traveling in the middle of winter is kinda fun. Especially with the lure of swimming, shopping and socializing a the end of it >=3

My hon's sister says it's cream cheese balls XD easier to squish I guess? But then she's seen the Vegas show like, fucking 180 times or some crazy shit.
I love Blue Man. XD

This was the coolest number in Vegas:

Especially since the dancing guys you see at the sides of the stage surrounding the bubble pillars are actually statues that rotate fast enough to be animated. (just watch it, it's coolness) :D

Considering how they came out, I wouldn't be surprised if it was cream cheese balls XD It was just this lumpy tower of goo piled on top of her hat ^^;;

That was a neat video :D I learned something today! Yay! And I want to see the Vegas show >.> The scrolling text before the concert said that it has things like Cher singing in a snifter glass full of Jello and something about Elton John :D

... that's HILARIOUS, but wrong. ^^;
The Vegas show was FABULOUS though. Much better than the Complex Rock Tour (at least from the CRT DVD). More comedy and special effects and "Blue Man" focused and less with the random singers... ^^;;
