Just finished the last two Valdemar anthologies. I have two thoughts.
- I am debating the awesomeness or suckiness of a story that very, very obviously parodies Scooby-Doo. Right down to the "and I would have gotten away with it too, if not for you meddlingkids Heralds!"
- The last two books featured at least two recurring storylines by the same author. It occurs to me that this is, essentially, sanctioned fanfiction. When did I miss out on that train? (What's really kinda hilarious is I just tossed all my old Valdemar fanfic with hardly a glance at it.)
I'm going to Renovation in 2011, I think I'll make myself some Whites :)
And since I know everyone's just dyyyyyyyyying to know, I've read every book in the series (21 last time I counted, which was just after Mage Storms came out) at least twice, and one of those reads was in chronological order. My enjoyment of Last Herald-Mage was likely diminished by my sister coming to me crying when a Certain Character died in book 1 while I was mired in the Gryphons' books (thus I never grew attached to him), and the second read just emphasized how fucking DEPRESSING they are. Not likely to read them a third time. I like my books slightly happier, kthx.
Also, I'm POSITIVE I read somewhere in the series that Talia moved like someone who'd had their feet broken, and I thought it was Kerowyn's book, but I absolutely cannot find it anymore. Epic sadface.
