Feb. 28th, 2010 05:47 pmOn the start of the Olympics, watching the opening ceremonies, I said (on facebook) that I had never been more happy and proud to be a Canadian.
Today, that feeling was eclipsed. I was at work without a TV and I couldn't find a radio station to listen to the game on, so my dear friend
hey_rabbit kept me updated on BB Messenger. (And a couple others through text messages, too <3) If there's one thing Canadians take very seriously, it's hockey. I waited anxiously for every update, and knew we had come out ahead of a VERY tight race when there was a huge yell from upstairs.
And now, watching highlights of the Games, moments both good and bad, from all the countries, I am just overflowing with pride. I am only a third generation Canadian - my grandparents, at least paternally, were born here in the 30s - but I have never, ever, EVER been so proud to be one.
No matter where my feet take me, my heart will always remain Canadian.
