As promised, pics of the current Elizabethan sewing projects :D

Custom pattern generated at elizabethancostume.net and modified to have waist tabs. I think it'll be more comfortable since I'm pretty squishy in the waist. Dated the pattern, too, which I neglected on my first one, so I can only say that I made it in early 2009, I think.

Layers sewn together; it's now awaiting boning. You can see some of the fabric creepage on the right side. I sort-of fixed it on the left by doing one line bottom to top, and the line next to it top to bottom. The top layer is a fairly stiff cotton that has some small gold accents on it, and the bottom layer is a really stiff I-don't-even-know but it does not stretch or anything, it's fantastic. I wish I knew what it was so I could get more of it.

Finished linen shift, made with instructions from elizabethancostume.net. I chose not to cut the arm gussets in half. I had made a shift out of light cotton broadcloth in 2008 and while it was fine for when I made it, and I will probably still use it, the neck opening was very large and it tends to fall off my shoulder if I'm not wearing a close-fitting garment on top. I can make the neck lie flat beneath a corset, but my mother made one from the same pattern, and she wound up taking the neck in about 4" in front to stop it from gaping. This shift, however, has a great neckline that doesn't gap much and doesn't fall off my shoulders. I can't wait to get all the layers together :3 Someday, I intend to put blackwork embroidery around the neck and maybe the wrists.

Next on the table is a farthingale. I started making it with a length of stained cotton broadcloth curtains using a period pattern, but I think I will scrap that and use a commercial pattern instead.

I have a large green binder with all the instructions for Margo Anderson's patterns, but since I've moved twice last year, I have zero idea where it might be. I would really like to be able to at least read up on her patterns.
