Finally managed to get rid of my extra couch today :D I decided, when I took Beatrice (the sewing machine) in, and when Grampa's sewing desk came back to me, that I needed to get rid of my second couch. It spent most of its time as a shelving unit, and I had piles of fabric and patterns on instead of using it as a couch. cuz I have another couch, and my space is really too small to have 2 large pieces of sitting furniture in it.

But it was hard to get someone to actually come and pick it up. I put it up on Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist) to a few replies, but only one "serious" reply, and that person kept flaking on me. After a week we just stopped emailing each other. I put it up on a buy-and-sell group on FB with a tiny bit more success, but again, no one who could actually take the couch away (crucial, because Dad, at the time, was working late, leaving me with no access to a large vehicle in which to move it, nor strong arms to get it out of the apartment). But once I got back from all of my travelling, I bumped it again and made plans with someone to come get it today (forgetting that it was Tuesday, and not Monday like I thought, and I would be missing part of my dance rehearsal for our performances this weekend. Whoops.)

But they actually came! And with a minimal amount of fuss, the couch got out of its place and into the hallway and out of my life! YAAAY!! I have so much more room in here now!

Now the crucial things will be to decided how to lay my sewing area out. The wall the couch was on is an addition to the apartment, and it is made out of plywood. It has no power outlets. I'm currently toying with the idea of putting my other couch against that wall (will need to figure out a lighting source, first; see lack of power outlets) and moving my TV set-up towards the kitchen, and setting up the sewing desks in the corner the TV is currently in. Or just leaving the set-up as it is, since the desks will take up a lot of room no matter what, and I don't entertain enough company to make having the TV set-up any differently. I must ponder!

I'm also hoping to make arrangements somehow for my fabrics to be stored differently and in an organized manner. Ideally, I'd get everything non-essential out of the storage closet (Christmas decorations are essential. My holidays are not complete without a tree and lights!) and just... out of my life, and put up shelves or something in there. It may not be feasible, since I already have four and a half bins, two large boxes, 5 file storage boxes, and a medium box of fabrics, plus two more boxes of faux fur, all of my yarn, four boxes of patterns, and a large bin for costumes. And there's a chance I'll be bringing home another older sewing machine on a cabinet. Truly. Non-essentials need to go. I don't need boxes of VHS tapes or cassettes. I don't need fish tanks i'm unlikely to use again. I'm still undecided on stuffed animals. I want to get a "grown-up" dresser, even though my current one was built by Grampa and it has sentimental value to me, but I can't afford it right now anyway. So. Much. To. Do.

And before anything else happens, I need to vacuum up the ginormous spider carcass that was hidden behind the couch. It's so huge I can see the twisted up legs from here *shudder*
