Lazy Day #2
Dec. 28th, 2015 06:30 pmToday I got up earlyish so that I could go to the dentist for the consult and then met up with my BFFE Dzi for a second viewing of Star Wars! And then my nephew told us a story about a bird who ate a lot of planets and people and pooped eggs until he could create a nest lol.
I'll put the dentist stuff under a cut, since I don't know about you, but teeth are kinda weird y'all. They took new X-rays and then the dentist came in to knock on the teeth he'd identified as the problem ones the last time I had X-rays done, almost a year ago. The bottom ones were OK, but the top one was really uncomfortable. The pain had subsided almost completely since I called last Thursday, but he gave me a prescription for a strong pain-killer anyway. It was hard to identify where the pain was originating, since I know that just because it was presenting in my lower jaw didn't mean that it was actually there. My last dentist mentioned that when he pulled the wisdom tooth 8 years ago. And pretty much as soon as I'd called, it started subsiding, and I've been careful not to eat too much on that side (pressure) and keep liquids away if at all possible.
So the X-rays showed that the top one's cavity had gone from a relatively small one to a large one, almost if not completely to the nerve, and will need either a root canal or extraction. It really did hurt in a similar manner to nerve pain, so I wasn't too surprised. He was quite concerned about how much it had progressed since we'd last talked about the plan (he said May, but I went in early February and then again in July). He suggested I rinse with fluoride mouthwash, and avoid processed foods and sugary drinks. I don't think I eat a lot of processed foods, what with my budget being so miniscule that it's actually cheaper to spend time and money on ingredients to make something that resembles something pre-packaged (Chef Boyardee came to mind), and the only sugary thing I tend to drink these days is either coffee or a drink mix. I'm trying to cut down the coffeesugar anyway, and I can probably give up the drink mix alright. I don't know. I'll do what I can. I Bought some mouthwash when I was at the mall for the movie. I hope it works OK. I finally found a toothpaste that doesn't fill my mouth with a burning sensation, but I'll tough it out as much as I can. The tooth is really sensitive to liquids, even warm ones. And then hopefully I can get in to have the rest of my fillings done this year.
Now I'm just hanging out at home, watching more Top Gear. I need to make myself dinner pretty soon since all I've eaten today is popcorn and some cookies. What shall I do with the rest of my evening? It's pretty early still :)
