totchipandaOK, i'm writing this, and I haven't even started writing about Sakuracon yet ^^;; I'lll have to do that later. LOL.
Otafest 2006
I have never had my boobs grabbed so much in my life :O
Hokay, so. Saturday, Allan picked me up around 10, we hit the mall for a few things i forgot, including my sandals, and timmy's, and then were on our way by 11. We got to Calgary around 1:30, where we went downtown to meet with Dzi and Chud for a couple hours before Nicole & co. arrived (we needed her there to check into our rooms). But none of us realized that the trains weren't running downtown, so they were late. We went to Prince's Island Park, where it showered on us, Dzi and Chud chased squirrels, Shilo called me <3 and Dzi gave me 27 pokes in the side instead of birthday bumps while I was chatting (so sorry!!!!), Shane called me, then we all decided when to meet for dinner, and then Nicole called and we went out to meet her at the Uni. We took a bit of a roundabout route, but considering that I barely know the campus and have only driven around it in Jimmy's van last year, I think the fact that we didn't have to stop and ask for directions was pretty good!
So, then we get in, we get settled, the rest of the groups start showing up, and we were an hour late for dinner. Kyle was most miffed. But tough bananas :p I brought 18 people with me for foodage ;) we took up all but one or two spaces at one of the grills. Yay for us! and since it was my birthday, they sang, and took pictures, and great fun was had by all!!
We left around 11:15 and I was worrying over whether or not we could even get into Rocky Horror anymore. But all was good.. Nicole and I waited to buy tickets, and sent the rest of the gang (10 people) to wait in line. However, they were stamping hands instead of doling out tickets (it was much faster than taking tickets and stamping hands as everyone went in, as the pre-purchased tickets were). Nicole was wearing heels, and I had on flats, so I ran outside to grab them, but just as I got to them, I turned too fast and my ankle bent and I wound up twisting it :/ First time in years. But Rocky Horror was lovely :D Much better crowd than we had in October, I think. There were a couple girls in front of us who knew most of the audience lines, and the people behind us were going to Otafest the next day too. LOL. Rice got EVERYWHERE, in everyone's clothing and shoes and etc XD The pre-show was a burlesque show, which was alright. I liked the school-teacher act best, and my favourite girl was the shortest one with the curviest curves *mmm yummy* Their costume mistress could get the girls into corsets in under a minute. Most excellent.
Saturday rolls around, we're doing this and that... did a bit of shopping. I bought a bandage to wrap my foot in. Heather needed a camera battery. Nicole needed a couple things for costumes. Debbie-Mom just drove us and shopped a bit at walmart :D Heidi and DL worked on the costumes, mostly. We were finally all ready and dressed and went to the con around 3:30, just in time for Nicole to get straight to cosplay. I managed to sneak into the room and get a good seat with Heather, but all of my pictures turned out BLURRY!! RAWR! It was alright as cosplay contests went. I think a time limit needs to be imposed, I can only be entertained for so long (and we all know, my opinion is the only one that matters. HAHAHAHAHA)
Afterwards, we drove around in a convoy of 5 vehicles, looking for a BPs to crash. The first one had a long wait. The next, which was actually a cheesecake cafe, closed at 11, and it was already 10pm. The third, just had two large groups of people leave, and only had two servers on, plus a bunch of cooks had called in "sick" (there was a game on that night, so no one was sure if they were REALLY sick...), but they sat us anyway. We wound up adding a few groups to our table simply 'cause they were otafest-goers. I bet the restaurant was reaaaally annoyed with us, cause we were loud as shit too. LOL.
Sunday, I left just before noon as I had committed to a doll meet :D I wore a cupcake skirt!! so cute! pretty much everyone who came, I had never ever met before ^^; but they were all sweet :D I had Ren's head and Saki with me, and I met a zombie-Kohya named Phir, a Kai with one arm 'cause the hook on his hand had broken and he couldn't be restrung all the way, and there was a Yen (?) and another doll I didn't actually get to see, and an AR Ami who was the cutest little girl EVAR. Her face up reminded me quite strongly of Cacau's Choco <3
Then I hung out with Jerri and Misque for a few hours, and spent a little time with Benn, Janzi and Mokko <3 my first Sakuracon peeps! yay! I hadn't seen them all together since last Otafest ;) We checked out the dealer's room, where my EVIL old boss from Camrose was there >.> I avoided THAT table like WHOA. bought a couple mangas and then we all headed off to catch the improv :3
after improv, which was fab, jimmy and tara drove me, jerri and misque back to our dorm so I could turn over Mia :( I know she's in good hands now! They left, and then all of the rest of our peeps showed up so we could change into yukata for Peter's Drive in :D But it started to rain >.>; and it didn't last long, but still. Peter's was yummy, and fun, even though some people almost got left behind. We did a "mark with all the ladies" picture and then we all went back to campus. Zoi joined us for a bit and fell asleep on one of the beds while msotly everyone else watched last year's cosplay video. Allan and I took her to work for 11, came back, and then we pretty much had to start packing 'cause we would be leaving early the next morning. I was tireder than I thought, and was JUST about asleep when Heather and nicole kicked ALlan out and went to bed ^^;
today, we were all ready to go at 7:30. Nicole called for a cab, twice, the second of which was around 8, and was told that it would be 10-15 minutes. They needed to get to greyhound by 8 to be on a bus at 8:30. But the first cab didn't even show up until 8:30. Nicole chewed the driver a new one (poor guy, it wasn't his fault, but they wereat least 15 minutes late as it was) and then he was waiting at the intersection to leave when the second cab showed up, who apparently chatted with the first cab, as they both waited for a bit, and then turned around and left. So we loaded all of the luggage into the car, the girls got one of the room keys back to hang out in for a couple hours, and when Allan and I got in around noon, we called to make sure they were on the bus, and they were :D They are currently at WEM right now, cause they have a Korean exchange student who is only in Canada for another month, and they figured that she needed to see the mall XD
other randomness, a few people randomly molested me while I was carrying Saki around, and one girl had me take a picture of her holding him (im so sorry to that girl, i was talking to zoi and trying to figure out what was going on with Peter's and totally ignoring her ^^; ) and said that he was the nicest of all the ones she had seen all weekend <3333 (I was happy, considering i did his faceup myself and I dont think its nearly as nice as Ren's). There was seriously a lot of boob-grabbing. I grabbed Tara's, she'd grab mine, zoi grabbed and got grabbed, nicole was grabbed a lot... it was awesome XD we had a boobie-grabbing circle going at one point. There was a lot of butt-slapping too LOL. Tara was nice and gave my birthday bumps to Saki instead of me XD
all in all, it was a pretty fun weekend :D totally thrown off by the sunday-monday thing, but oh well ;)
