We headed down to Calgary yesterday for their Regency Ball hosted by the same group that does ours. We volunteer in the card room and even though most people are there to dance, theres usually a couple people wanting to learn and play. Whist is the only game i know. The venue is lovely, from probably the same decade as the Hotel MacDonald (1910s) and they brought around the most deeeelicious mini beef wellingtons and creme brulees. Yummmm.

We came home today amd yesterday's weather had been lovely, sunny and windy and not too hot but comfy enough for no sleeves, even at 11pm. Today was cold, rainy, and windy enough that it probably would have been a -10 windchill. I stopped for gas outside the city and promptly froze. Brrrr! Nicole slept the whole trip. I took a full hour-long nap when i was safely home and cuddling my cat. Not many brains happening in my head, which i expected anyway, but even more so after a highway full of people not turning their headlights on when the mist was so thick sometimes even that didnt matter.

Tje only sewing i did today was to pull apart the cap i made last year in hopes of reusing it. Im a little pleased that while only part of it i can use as-is, my sizing and scale was only a little on thr small side. Woohoo, progress!

You know, i think im gonna carry a (really modern) deck of cards around if anyone wants to have a quick game of whist.

Sounds like the ball was fun! And yay for knowing how to make things (even if they were made a little small)! That's a good feeling, being capable.

Next time we see each other, whenever that might be, I'd love to learn whist! It's such a Jane Austen-y thing to do. :)

I've heard of the balls going on, but have yet to actually get up the motivation to go. I think the problem is that I keep hearing about them last minute and don't have anyone to go with.
