Mar. 19th, 2020 08:38 amI got nothin' right now. My office is largely closed in the face of COVID-19, I don't trust our premier and his public health emergency as far as I could throw him (good, yes, declaring the emergency and restricting public things like rec centres and gatherings of more than 50 people etc, but he is DESTROYING public health care by telling doctors that they charge too much and is not renewing the contract, terminating the contract with radiologists, and a whole host of other issues aimed at privatizing health care and pushing through a terrible budget in the face of a global pandemic. Sure you postponed the budget when you needed time to slash everything that helps people on the whole, but pushed it when people are distracted by COVID? I SEE WHAT YOU DID, SIR), my dance class and recital are now cancelled, and on the whole, each day is surviving one hour at a time. (I also started this in the morning, and have just found out that we are going to reduced hours now.)
I've been working VEEEEEEEEERY slowly on the stays. I got the last four panels marked for channels and sewn on Monday night. Tuesday I tied and trimmed all the thread ends. Yesterday I was going to start the eyelets and realized that I didn't put the fold-over fabric down at the right time and now they are flopping loose and free (well, I basted them down now). Whatever, it's extra layers for the eyelets, which WILL get through all layers. Nicole doesn't own an awl so I have to poke through first with a 2 mm knitting needle, then widen it with a 4.5 mm one, and I still get a teeeeeeeeeeeeeeny tiny eyelet. Which I also forgot how to sew, so the three I've done look like shit.
I have so many things that I want to work on that they're in the nebulous "I don't know what" state. I just need to finish all of the underpinnings since all of mine are in storage for the time being, so on the off-chance we do get to do anything fun any time soon, I'll have nothing to wear!

Date: 2020-03-20 04:54 pm (UTC)The stays are looking really nice, from all the pics I've seen! I always poke the knitting needle through again after I've made the eyelet to try and re-embiggen it.
