Life continues apace. Nicole moved a lot of her stuff on the weekend (well, her bf and his buddies did, actually) but the sewing room remains largely untouched. They said he would drop her off for a couple days to deal with that, probably next week, and we shall see. I've taken the first full week of May off, hopefully I will be able to have my things delivered and I can start really settling in.

We had some excitement on Sunday night when my roommate spotted movement on the other side of the living room. We had JUST been talking about spiders (I'd tossed some black thread towards the garbage can and epically missed, and was promising her it was thread and not a spider) so I thought for sure it was a spider or a bit of fluff. Nope, it was a mouse. Neither of us do well with small creatures that move very fast. The dogs were just curious about our excitement, and when I brought Guido over to see if he would be interested in a mouse, the dogs were interested in HIM and he was having none of it. The mouse ran across the room (along the wall) and disappeared under the couch.

Luckily one of the neighbours was still awake as it was nearly 11 pm by the time we called them and she had some live traps that she brought over (on the condition that we let the mouse go. We definitely wanted to let the mouse go and live its life somewhere that was not our living room.), demonstrated on the step, and left. We set them up and then talked ourselves into going to bed. I was pretty sure the mouse would stay hidden until it was darker and there was less commotion, so off we went. When I got up yesterday morning, one of the traps had been triggered, and Roomie heard it moving. Neither of us were excited to deal with it, but all of our potential helpers wouldn't be around until much later in the day and we didn't want to leave it trapped for hours and hours and hours.

Luckily for us, Nicole's BF Matt stopped by to pick up the dolly from the moving truck that had been left behind, and he released it for us despite not doing well with small fast-moving creatures either. No more mouse. Last night we went grocery shopping and then spent 20 minutes cleaning up mouse poop and showering. I slept MUCH better now that it was all cleaned up and we for sure did not have any more mice (that we know of). Poor lil guy. I hope you live a happy life in the field.

I found myself scrolling aimlessly through Instagram last night so I forced myself to get back to sewing the gussets on all of my shift sleeves. I'm sewing them by hand, it's a nice semi-mindless task to work on in the evenings. I started and almost finished a Therese hood too, but its too dark to work on when the light is poor lol. I likely won't have any of my undies done in April, but at least they are happening.

I opened up my birthday "party" invite, finally. I created it back in January, and left it until I had more bandwidth to deal with it. I sincerely doubt the physical distancing restrictions will be lifted before my planned date of May 23, and I wouldn't be willing to risk community health anyway, so it's going to be online instead. I can't figure out (yet) how to change the privacy setting, so if you'd like to participate and we aren't friends on FB for me to send an invite, it's Saturday, May 23, 1-5pm MDT. Put on a fancy outfit (your best pair of earrings, your multi-award-winning cosplay, whatever you have the brain power and desire to put on), send me a picture, and eat something delicious. That's all I want :) I'm also considering setting up some kind of video meeting to see people "live" but I will poke at that a little closer to the date.
