Time keeps on slipping~
Sep. 27th, 2021 09:26 amI was off Friday bc it was supposed to be a wedding, but the couple decided to postpone when the province introduced a bunch of pandemic measures to be implemented on very short notice on the 13th. Some took effect immediately, others had a 4-7 day lead time. Still took the day off though. Roommate and I went shopping and saw a movie.
Saturday I saw another movie with my brother, and he brought me the card the vet sent with Guido's paw prints. There was a good amount of crying.
Sunday I sewed! I started working on the shirt for my suit, making up the button stand and one sleeve to test the construction method. Then I was tired and decided to nap. I will need to cut the neck down, it's currently very very tight at my throat, and the band is far too long. Time to do some research on mens shirt-making because my current resources aren't very clear.
While making dinner, I had a total short circuit between my brain and hand, and grabbed the handle of a pan that had JUST come out of the oven. So instead of doing something fun like knitting, or changing my sheets and taking a shower, I spent 3 hours with my hand in a bowl of water to mitigate the ouchiness. It worked though, I have three obvious points of contact and some tenderness, but not more pain. One of the points may turn into a blister, but overall it could have been much, much worse.
I don't know what might have happened if it had. COVID cases are so bad right now that surgeries are being cancelled unless it is literally immediate life or death so that the recovery units can be used for covid patients. My city is at 130% capacity for ICU and they are trying to send patients to other units in the country for care.
But you know, COVID isn't serious, its just a bad flu, and nurses/health care pros are overpaid non-skilled workers. I hate this province sometimes.

Date: 2021-09-28 05:28 pm (UTC)I have done that hot pan thing more times than I'd like to admit. I even put a dishcloth or oven mitt over the handle sometimes for protection and a reminder and then will stupidly REMOVE it to grab the pan handle. Brains, man. I hope your hand heals quickly!
That whole no more restrictions thing was just abominable. I'm glad that the pandemic measures are back in place for you guys now.

"open for summer" was RIDICULOUS. Open for summer, and locked down for fall, but apparently lock downs aren't fair to people who are vaccinated so they won't do a full shut down again. I just. I can't.
