More time a-wastin'
Apr. 14th, 2023 08:17 amAll of my hands-on work is done, aside from a few small things that I'm waiting for the graphics team to do up. I have an appointment this afternoon for my doc to touch my chest (nuuuu don't perceive me!!!) (aka annual physical) so it's a short day for me.
Weekend is busy-ish. I'm having my car's oil changed tomorrow. Sunday is another Broadway show. I must visit the beans. I am determined to make the most of it anyway. I have a lovely cleared table awaiting... something. I think I'm just waffling on how many of similar-effort projects I have planned. Pants (I really need to just DO THIS, my pants situation is dire), jacket, buttonholes. I have a shirt I want to take a pattern from, I mostly like it aside from some very specific issues, namely super slippery fabric, the front length is weird? and too small in the bust, all of which combines to a shirt that rides up and slips back and won't stay tucked in. When I first put it on in the day, I'm like YES I LOVE THIS LOOK (tucked in bc weird length, a lil blousy bc it's not fitted, all the elements I like in a shirt like a low collar and short sleeves) but within an hour I'm ripping it off my body. SO I want to pattern it to make it in different fabric and with enough boob room.
And that got me thinking about wardrobe AGAIN, also because it's warming up and soon I will need lighter torso coverings. Months of camisoles and sweaters have left me with like... three shirts to wear, if one of them is a t-shirt. And of those other two, they are sleeveless (fine) but with the bra I tend to wear, they are also very low-cut (one of them is pinned closed; obviously stitching them is on the table) and very very gappy at the armscyes.
This has been on going for like... 5+ years at this point. Where the fuck does one begin. What do I choose how to dress myself in a way that feels authentic? Why are bodies so hard??

Date: 2023-04-14 04:15 pm (UTC)It still helps me to look at androgynous styles for work wear. If fem clothing is too fem, ambiguity is a good start. Casual yet functional can sometimes be found in outdoor wear like at REI, like usually not too froo froo because hiking, etc. Layering, tanks/t-shirts with some sort of button shirt that can go under a sweater or jacket.
