Dec. 8th, 2023 10:43 am(continued writing from a saved draft, Chrome crashed on me and I forgot I was in the middle of typing this)
I got nothing else going on and also my neurodivergent tics are THROUGH THE GD ROOFTODAY yesterday (right out the top of my 36 floor building). There is SO MUCH NOISE. The building hosted a tenant event right outside of our doors, it snowed overnight and my coworker came in LOUDLY complaining about everything, LOUDLY (my boss actually shushed her), and my newbie is hissing to herself as she counts (to no purpose) something we need for the safety manuals. I've gone past wanting to scream to dissociation. Headphones only do so much.
(tics are more under control today but let me tell you, I am so glad it is Friday and I will get to spend the majority of the weekend either all alone or with people I choose to see in controlled environments)
Wednesday night I did shave my head, which was fun without a folding mirror to double check the back as I was doing it. I think I got it pretty even at least, checking it with a hand mirror. I made nacho fries for dinner which was delicious.
Last night M and I went to see a showing of Waitress: The Musical in a theatre, which was just wonderful. The ONLY downside was that I'm in the middle of the worst days of my period, so I thought I would need to exit for a bathroom in the middle and our row was full. (I didn't, and perhaps I should have, but I was prepared with a backup pad)
I bought two bra kits and a pattern from Emerald Erin for black Friday, which arrived earlier this week. The pattern obvs was sooner, but I didn't push to get it ready until yesterday. I made up a mock up in the leftovers from my petticoat -- so entirely non stretchy stable cotton. It went together really well and then I got to the stage where I could kind of hold it on and... it was not good. Holding the band in place, the cup needs to be wider in the center by a good inch to an inch and a half. I feel like the side was decently placed (there were no wires in yet) but the center part was not even close to touching my chest wall and I could see the cup straining. Probably going up a cup size would help? I made the E cup for my band size, but also printed the F cup. I think I will print the G as well, just to be safe.
I think I will also need some adjustments for the actual shape, it was hard to tell with everything flopping around (no straps) and the center so obviously NOT working. I do not want to cut my pretty fabric until I have the fit more or less decided. I was watching a video about a different bra pattern where she says she cuts and sews a cup to test size first, then pulls it apart if it works well. Totally gonna use that. I forsee much bra making in my future because I got most of the test sewing done (including some top stitching) in an hour. Excited to spend some time on this this weekend.
Other weekend plans: play my video game (the expansion and an update to the base game both released on Tuesday). Work on the petticoat some more (I ran out of bobbin thread). Still want to make camisoles/tank tops from tshirts in my drawer that I otherwise don't wear.
