Travelled south to the dinosaur museum! The last two times we went, it was October and still COVID-y so there weren't many people around. In July (and still COVID-y, let's be real) it was very busy. AND HOT. I sweated for like three hours straight in 33C + humid (for here) and smoke. Listening to some of the other guests when we bunched up, I had to remember that I have been extremely fortunate to live so close to the museum for my whole life. It's a world-class facility, people travel from all over to see it, and it's been in my yard the entire time. I have been there lots! And I'll happily go again, it's just so good.
I was not the driver, so I started knitting an emotional support chicken. It's an inexplicably popular pattern on Ravelry, but I cannot stress enough how adorable they are, and it's SUCH an easy knit. I gleaned the pattern largely from YouTube so I stopped knitting when I reached a point where I wasn't sure how to proceed. As it happened, the light was getting a little dodgy too so it was totally fine to stop there.
Yesterday I told my friends that I would help them with an event in about a month as we got chatting, they offered me a pair of fans they were not using. SIGN ME UP!! I jumped in the car and drove out to them and their DELICIOUSLY cool house. On the way, I picked up a plastic snap frame for my cross stitch, and on the way home I also got a scroll frame. It's the kind that the project gets stitched to, so I haven't set it up yet, but the snap frame works great. The wider surface is already feeling better on my body.
I created a highlight on Instagram for the project as I work on it, I plan to do weekly updates for as long as I keep working on it. I'm starting to feel like I'm in the groove now.
Amazon fan has not even shipped yet, but the two I've borrowed are wonderful. One is directed to blast air across the room as it does not spin, and the other I set up to blow across my bed, which was very necessary as that room was entirely too hot until almost 11pm. The kittens were really not sure about these noisy objects, at one point Calcifer was sat in front of the oscillating one with her ears fully pinned back lol.
