It was a lovely event! The theme was Lucy Maud and there was a delightful sit down dinner with a celebration of "kindred spirits" (my friend was named, I was her kindred spirit hehe), plus we got to shop the store afterwards. Our host, store owner Brandi, used her own collection of LMM books as decor on the tables and she told us a story about how she went all the way to PEI to visit Green Gables when she was 19, but couldn't bc it snowed right after she arrived and all the roads were snowed in and so were the plows bc it was May. She has yet to make it back, and she is now 52. She cried multiple times over the course of the evening, with joy at seeing all of us there with the same love in our hearts for this series and author <3 (Confession: i have never read any of the books, but like any good Canadian the 1980s movies and Road to Avonlea were staples on our TV.) Friends M & C also came, and the three of us had dressed up in Edwardian wear (M was wearing Black Snail also lol)

I took enough time to fix to gaping holes in my yoke and press the worst of the wrinkles from the front of the skirt. Safety pinned the bejesus out of it and called it good enough. I then pinned a length of wide burgundy ribbon around my waist and friends, it was giving Edwardian Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. I am not mad about it though! I couldn't get all myself into the mirror bc it was just stood on the floor and leaned against a wall, but I really enjoyed the silhouette. I def need some bum/hip padding though, it was a little lax. My skirt was so delightfully weighty and swooshy, I LOVED the feeling of it swirling around me! And y'all, Edwardian ladies were onto something just gathering their skirts into one hand from the back. Lifting the front did nothing, but holding it like that made all kinds of stair climbing easy peasy.

I wore it all over the 'teens corset bc it was really all I had, and it was fine. I do not enjoy the feeling of a corset floating over top of my belly, but I don't really know how to solve that. The belly is not squishy, it does not compress and redistribute, it just hangs out. I've not had much luck lifting it up and trying to capture it higher. There's some period ads of corsets with a belly supporter that I'm intrigued by, might be time to figure those out.

That concludes my current calendar of events. With the lack of a holiday job, I have MANY MUCH TIMES to myself. And i know we all love a planning list, so here is a noodle of things to keep me busy :)

Cross stitch
- Continuing the stroll (no, it has not grown much or at all since the last time I posted about it, whenever that was)
- decide if I want to finish the WIP that I've had since approx 1998 or scrap it and start over, since I KNOW its riddled with errors.
- some of the new patterns I have my eye on (carousel horses, halloween samplers)

Knitting
- Steeked sweater WIP. I was hoping to get this done this month, but travelling in the first half was not very helpful for that, and I chose not to bring it bc it's bulky enough and I still had hopes of returning with a single carry on suitcase.
- Take the orange shawl to work for my work knitting. I will not be making the goal of 12 pairs of socks, so there isn't much drive to keep socks there. I should be able to finish my current pair this month (it's halfway through gusset decreases) and maybe I could get one more pair done by the end of the year.
- will also not be finishing my other shawl before the end of the month, but it's on the list anyway

Other knitting/crochet WIPs:
-Lace shawl
-Green sweater (might need to redo this entirely, which would be a royal PITA!!! The yoke is too big)
-Cat scarves
-Blanket
-baby blanket for a baby who is now 2 years old

Sewing
- Stays and corsets galore!! New Regency/transitional! Edwardian! Finish the Victorian and 'teens!
- ALL THE DRESSES!! I have new patterns to try out! Regency, 'teens, Edwardian.
- MORE PETTICOATS. Always more petticoats.
- Padding
- Finish the Mitchell trousers (hung up on seam finishes for the legs. Fabric is shreddy AF but I don't have any suitable serger thread. This really should not be the stumbling block that it is)
- More work clothes, let's be real. But that might require some (gasp) fabric purchases bc my stash is mostly focused on costumes and not practical wear.

Fold over and topstich, baby. Or do a Hong Kong finish.
