Jun. 20th, 2024 09:34 amRight around 4 years ago TO THE DAY, my QPP* and I were supposed to be going to a Regency event in New York, but COVID happened and my flights were cancelled. About a year later, Air Canada asked if I wanted to convert that flight into a travel voucher or to return it to the purchasing card. Since I hadn't bought the flights and QPP had forgotten that she'd purchased them, we chose to do a voucher. We were somewhat planning last fall but never really discussed it and then I was moving, so it didn't happen.
On Friday QPP and I were discussing how we are too old and that events that start at 8pm are Past Our Bedtimes. She then said that she and hubs were doing sound at their local ball in November, and then tossed out "YOU SHOULD COME FOR THAT". You know what, MAYBE I SHOULD! So I looked into flights - they do not live in a major center for travel, so the only flights there and back were 2 stops, and coming back was a 19 hour trip. NOPE. I'm flying into a major center and I will rent a car if I need to, it will be worth the cost to spend 6 hours driving and not 9 hours in layover in Vancouver. Still only one flight home, but a much more reasonable 9 hour trip with an almost-3 hour layover.
But I couldn't book it online. I had to call AC and get them to book the trip for me and apply the voucher right away. I've got the receipts and the booking info, so I will be visiting the fine state of Michigan in November :D I have not seen QPP since 2018 and I am very excited!!!!
Of course now I need to decide what to wear to the ball... My local one is happening in September. Do I want to wear a dress or a suit? I've been wanting to do menswear for awhile, maybe this is the time!
Yesterday was a day of Boring But Important Tasks - I had two meetings, therapy, the call to Air Canada, and to pick up a key from the rental office bc they are putting locks on the building doors next week. Sewing-wise I have been picking away at the remake of my Shay dress. Reclaiming the fabric from the other dress meant I now had enough for sleeves. I accidentally cut the lining on the wider line for when you make it a zippered back, but thankfully realized this before cutting out the fashion fabric.
I am glad I washed the poplin, it is much softer without sizing in it. Haven't cut that project out yet, I need to try on my first version again to see if I need to adjust the changes I made last time since they were pretty aggressive. Soon.
